The Solid Waste System for Rapid City, SD boasts originality and innovation, as the first of its kind in the upper Midwest region. FourFront Design, Inc. (as the Alliance of Architects and Engineers, Inc.) wrote the Solid Waste and Recycling Plan for the City of Rapid City, and then designed the entire facility to compost and recycle municipal waste and biosolids for the City. The system converts 213 tons per day of pre-processed municipal solid wastes (MSW) from the City’s Materials Recovery Facility and biosolids from the City’s Water Reclamation Facility into usable compost, suitable for a variety of applications.
