FourFront Design, Inc., in partnership with Rundell Ernstberger Associates, has designed a classic yet contemporary downtown public square for use by the citizens and visitors of Rapid City, South Dakota. FourFront provided Survey, Architectural, and Civil assistance to the project and primarily focused on Planning efforts throughout the design phase (interface with Stakeholders, Conveyances, Permitting, and Governmental Alignment). FourFront’s Landscape Architecture group also completed planting and irrigation design specific to the vernacular culture. The square is a $6.5M facility that is expected to be completed in the fall of 2011. The project includes the development of pedestrian circulation and a park-like setting with amenities such as public seating, performance stage, sculpture gardens, fountains, event facilities, restrooms, plazas, beautiful landscapes, and a great lawn that doubles as an ice skating rink.
