The Rapid City Regional Airport was designed to provide a completely enclosed terminal that services four national airlines and two commuter airlines. Each airline has an individual ticketing counter and make-up space. The concourse has seven gates with loading bridges for each of the primary airlines.

The terminal includes a gift shop, full service restaurant and lounge, five auto rental companies, administrative offices, and art exhibit spaces. There are viewing stations from which one can see Mt. Rushmore, Harney Peak, and the City of Rapid City. The terminal was expanded to 80,000 sf to handle the projected growth for the ensuing fifteen years.
