Box Elder hired FourFront Design to create its latest zoning and land use maps using GIS. Before January 2009, when the City's official zoning map and ordinance was updated and approved, the City had not significantly updated zoning in at least 15 years. Using GIS made the process more efficient and easier, saving the city time and staff resources. To create the official zoning, existing land use, and future land use data layers, digital parcel data from Pennington and Meade Counties was used as the base layer. In the GIS parcel polygons were assigned zoning and land use field attributes and then symbolized based on their values. |
