Destination Rapid City was established in 2008 to strengthen downtown Rapid City, SD through economic development and to create a vibrant central district that appeals to both City residents and visitors. Destination Rapid City works in partnership with community organizations for the revitalization and redevelopment of the Downtown. To assist in this effort, FourFront provided mapping and GIS analysis to identify what land owners are within the organizations' established Downtown Improvement District. Interactive PDF maps were created so that parcels could be quickly queried for information based on location. In addition, building footprints were mapped and attributed with names and types of businesses within each building. Photos of each building were hyperlinked to each footprint. With ESRI's ArcReader software application, Destination Rapid City was able to acquire access to their mapped data and associated photos for querying and printing, with no software investment cost and limited user training required.
