Using GIS, FourFront consolidated and updated the information included in Rapid  City's twenty Drainage Basin Design Plans (DBDPs) which have been written over the last eighteen years. Most of the plans are available in hard copy format only, so that it was difficult for the City to compile statistics on the attributes of all of the existing and proposed drainage channels and detention basins, Pertinent tabular data from the DBDPs were added as attributes in the GIS data layers. Compiled information included drainage element status, type, description, recommendations, and design flows at build out. A total of 909 drainage elements were inventoried, assessed in the field and photographed. The photos were hyperlinked to the GIS elements with description of the photos. This GIS data can now be used to prioritize drainage infrastructure maintenance and construction, assist with NODES permit implementation, and be expanded to include elements for additional drainage basins.
