As part of overall improvements to their Assisted Living Campus, FourFront Design, Inc. provided West Hills Village with design services for a series of added amenities for residents as part of a central “Commons”. A Major Amendment to the Conditional Use Permit was required for the additional amenities per the local governing body, Rapid City Growth Management. The Landscape Architecture group led site planning for the retrofit and renovations and collaborated with Civil Group for some very technical and challenging work to support the Architectural project. Several Outdoor spaces for residents were developed as part of the campus offering, including lovely gardens, outdoor dining, and plazas. Planning was charged with implementation of site goals on a macro level and making calculations and supporting decisions and metric for the 15 acre planned facility in terms of parking, landscape, accessibility, and built environment integration. A series of public meetings were conducted and FourFront represented West Hills Village through governmental hearings; the result was unanimous support for the Amended Conditional Use Permit and approval for project.
